Jay Holcomb is the executive director of the International Bird Rescue Research Center (IBRRC), which has been working with Tri-State Bird Rescue to help oiled wildlife in the Gulf of Mexico's BP Deep Horizon oil spill disaster. A world leader in oiled wildlife recovery and care, Jay has 40 years experience in the field of working with seabirds, land birds, and mammals as well as birds of prey. He has managed wildlife operations on over 200 spills internationally. In 1996, he was awarded the NWRA Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest award given in the field of wildlife rehabilitation.
In addition to his hands-on management and care for wildlife, Jay is a frequent speaker, educating the public through community group meetings on the importance of the proper care for oiled, sick and injured aquatic birds-especially the California Brown Pelican.
